Have you ever wondered what “Auld Lang Syne” means? Or why we sing it this time of year? {I’m envisioning the ending scene of When Harry Met Sally here…} Well, it’s an eighteenth-century Scottish poem, set to a traditional folk song. Auld lang syne means “old long since,” so “For auld lang syne” means, “for the sake of old times.” The song is sung not only at New Year’s, but also to commemorate endings, farewells, and new beginnings. Today, it’s about reflecting on the year gone by.
And what a year it’s been!
I never envisioned all that would become of this blog when I started it back in April… and now I’ve made some amazing bloggy friends, I’ve connected with so many dear readers, I’ve been published in two books, I have more social media accounts than I ever thought possible, and I even got my dad to join Twitter! {Okay, I don’t think that last one had anything to do with my blog, but seriously, it’s a big accomplishment!}
On this last day of the year, I’m sharing with you some of the top posts from the last year, as well as pleading with you that our acquaintance not be forgot. But first…
The Twelve Posts of Left Brain Buddha
Here’s another fun fact about a holiday song: “The Twelve Days of Christmas” also dates to the 18th century {of French or British origin}, and the 12 days of Christmas actually begin with Christmas {or, according to some, the day after Christmas}, so technically we’re still celebrating Christmas as we ring in the New Year. Here is a compilation of the Best of Left Brain Buddha!

Should Old Acquaintance Be Forgot?
You may or may not have heard, but Facebook is making it harder for bloggers and small businesses to reach their audiences, unless we pay to promote our posts {easy for businesses to do, not so much for teacher-bloggers!} For example, when I share links to articles on Facebook, sometimes only 30-40 of Left Brain Buddha’s 590+ followers actually see it! I certainly don’t want our acquaintance to be forgot, so I wanted to share with you ways that you can keep in touch and follow what’s happening at Left Brain Buddha!
You have many options…
- Like Left Brain Buddha on Facebook. Even if you’ve already done this, right next to the “like” tab on the page, you can click “follow” – this won’t guarantee that you’ll always see my posts, but it will probably increase the chances.
- Follow my “public” updates from my personal profile on Facebook. This is different than “friending” me – it means you’ll see any updates from the blog or links that I share publicly, but you won’t see all the pictures of my kids’ dance recitals. This is probably the best way to ensure you see updates from Left Brain Buddha. On my personal profile page, right next to where it says “Add Friend,” click on “Follow.” {And if you DO want to see the pics of my kids, send me a friend request!}
- Follow Left Brain Buddha on Bloglovin’ {I LOVE this site for reading blogs!}
- Follow me on Twitter ~ even my dad does! 🙂
- Follow me on Pinterest.
- Follow me on Google +.
- Subscribe to the blog! Enter your email address in the form on the right side of the page.
I’m so looking forward to staying in touch with you in the New Year! Have a safe and happy evening.
Namaste.
