My fellow cyber-world friends,
A year ago this week, I started this blog with very little knowledge of blogging, HTML, or social media. But today, I am proud and honored to report to you…
… that the state of Left Brain Buddha is …
STRONG!
{Fervent applause … from both sides of the aisle.}
Please, take your seats…
{Applause continues.}
I’m so honored and thankful. Please, do sit down.
{Crowd finally settles down…}

Okay, you know a social studies teacher can’t resist her chance to do a State of the Union speech! One’s first “blogiversary” {yes, that’s actually what it’s called} is a pretty big deal. They grow up so fast!
First, I want to THANK EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU for reading. I am so honored that you voted for me are here!
And just what is here? What is this part of the Internet all about?
When I started this site last year, I wrote a mission statement:
I also wrote these five words to summarize what I hoped my writing would be:
I sincerely hope this is what you have found here!
Looking back on the year, the most popular posts on Left Brain Buddha seem to fit in those categories.
Top 5 All-Time Posts:
Over the last year, this blog has been extremely rewarding to me on a personal level. Through writing each week, I come to understand what I think. By sharing it with you, I discover that I am not alone, and I learn some valuable lessons from the thoughtful comments you share with me. I’ve always been an avid reader, but now I read more carefully and deeply because I am so excited to share what I’ve learned with you.
Writing about mindfulness and mindful parenting has not only taught me a lot about my own practice, but it has held me accountable to my most deeply held beliefs and intentions when it comes to living and parenting. I believe in writing and blogging authentically, honestly, and wholeheartedly, and I am striving to fully embody the meaning of “practice what you preach.” I, and my children, have benefitted tremendously from this commitment.
A State of the Union speech must not only address where we have been and what we have learned, but where we are going. I have so many dreams and ideas for this small corner of the interwebs! I have plans for a monthly newsletter, full of exclusive content and inspiration {look for it this summer!} I am exploring “micro-blogging,” sharing small, bite-sized servings of information on social media {Google+, Pinterest, and Twitter} in between the more lengthy posts I share with you here. And I’m hoping to do more videos {vlogs} in the future.
And now I would like to hear from you! I want to know what YOU want to see more of on Left Brain Buddha! Are there specific types of posts you want to see more of? Specific ideas or practices you want to learn more about? Please let me know below in the comments.
Since I want to make this the world’s shortest State of the Union Address, I will close by thanking you again for your support and encouragement over the last year. I haven’t mentioned anyone by name, because I am terribly afraid of leaving someone out, and there are just so many of you. But all my bloggy friends and those to whom I have turned to for bloggy advice in the last year, please know I am deeply appreciative of your friendship and support.
I will, however, specifically thank my husband, especially for understanding why I’ve missed many nights of Netflix viewing so I could write a few more posts. And my children, who inspire me, at least every other day. 🙂
Thank you, and …
{well, crap, “may God bless America” doesn’t sound like the right kind of ending here…. and “may Buddha bless Left Brain Buddha” just sounds weird….}
So I’ll end with…
Thank you, …
and…
Namaste.

I’m anticipating the official opposition response from the blogger behind Right Brain Lao Tzu shortly.

You can also keep in touch by signing up for email updates to be notified of new posts {about twice a week}. You can sign up in the form a little ways up on the right-hand side of the screen.
And don’t forget to leave your feedback for me in the comments below. THAT would be an awesome gift! 🙂
